The Chairmans Challenge 2016

At the 2016 AGM the Chairman announced the second Chairmans Challenge to the club. He handed a small (19ins by 24ins) baseboard to those interested in taking up the challenge.

 

'You have until 28th September to complete it and it must cost no more than £75, excluding controllers and rolling stock.'

 

So far 7 members have taken up the challenge, we eagerly await what they make of it

 

Rules:-

Open to members of the Billericay Model Railway Group

Opening date 30th March 2016

Closing date 28th September 2016

Budget: Maximum spend £75.00. This does not include stock or controller.

Object: To construct a working diorama in any scale or era, from either an actual or imaginary sceneon the board supplied.

Finish:Single additions (fiddleyard) may be added up to the size of the original board's footprint.

Layouts cannot be constructed on club evenings although they can be brought in for the purpose of assistance or guidance.

Members taking a board commit to the challenge to submit their entry by 28th September. Boards not submitted by this date will incur a charge of £15.00 each.

All boards supplied will be the same dimensions subject to manufacturing tolerances.

Notes: The finished layouts must be working and built within the budget set. For those that have second-hand stock they wish to utilise this will be assumed to be 50% of the new cost as listed by Hattons on the closing date. A full and final account sheet is to be part of the entry without which the entry will be disqualified.

Judging: By an independent judge whose decision will be final will be based on originality, detail and general presentation. The prize to the winner will be an appropriate locomotive or stock to the same value, to a maximum manufacturers retail value of £150.

 

Any questions or queries will be resolved by discussion. Failure to achieve that then the chairman will make a fair and binding decision.
